This Independence Day, Semper Solaris is awarding retired Army Veteran and Sergeant Major, Dennis Torres-Garcia, a new solar panel system. When he turned 17 years old, Dennis Torres-Garcia enlisted in the United States Army. His father was a WW2 and Korean War Veteran of 28 years, so he knew he would follow in those footsteps. He spent a year in Vietnam as a helicopter gunman and volunteered to be a grunt from there. Retiring 30 years later as a Sergeant Major, Dennis Torres-Garcia began his new career as an JROTC Instructor at an intercity school and just hung up his boots last May, becoming the oldest soldier to wear the 13 changes of uniform since 1968. Dennis Torres-Garcia is a father to 4 children; 2 who are already retired war veterans and 1 still active duty herself. He has spent years honoring this country and it was time that Semper Solaris honored him back. We are honored to have installed this solar panel system this past Fourth of July in Arizona. With the temperatures getting up to 112 and the AC constantly running, this system should help alleviate any high utility bills this summer and the future ones to come.
