SunPower Residential National Dealer and Top Producer of the Year
Semper Solaris, a San Diego-based solar installer, has received the SunPower “Residential National Top Producer of the Year” award as well as the “Residential National Dealer of the Year” award for its outstanding performance as a SunPower dealer in 2016. This follows Semper Solaris’ win of the same “Residential National Dealer of the Year” award in 2015. This is the first time in SunPower’s 32-year history that any company has received this award for a consecutive two years, and also the first time in their history that a company has received both the Dealer and Producer awards in the same year. “SunPower’s reputable national dealer network is strengthened by local solar companies like Semper Solaris, selected for their quality craftsmanship, industry expertise and customer service,” said Martin DeBono, SunPower senior vice president. San Diego, Semper Solaris’ original location, ranked second in the country for installed megawatts of solar, and Semper Solaris was a major contributor to San Diego’s record-breaking growth.
Industry Leading Solar Technology: Performance Beyond Compare
Performance Beyond Compare
Not only are SunPower solar panels the most powerful and efficient on the market, they’re also the best-looking. Thanks to their exclusive Maxeon solar cell technology, SunPower panels have no grid lines and blend harmoniously into the roof of your home. Backed by the industry’s best warranty, SunPower residential solar panels provide the most efficient, renewable solar power. Replacing industry standard metal paste with solid copper, SunPower panels absorb sunlight more efficiently and for decades longer. Eighty-five percent of the typical reasons for cell failure are eliminated in the SunPower Maxeon Cell design.
- The Maxeon cell has no grid lines on the front of the cell so they can absorb more sunlight and look better up on your roof. Conventional cells are covered in lines of metal paste which decrease power output and corrode.
- The Maxeon cell’s solid copper foundation is almost impervious to corrosion, doesn’t crack, and stands up to extreme temperatures. Conventional cells have even more metal paste on the back of the cell leaving a weak foundation that breaks down in extreme weather conditions.
- SunPower technology uses a thick connector to hold their cells together. The connectors easily expand and contract with temperature swings because they have built in strain relief. Conventional cells have thin, weak ribbons connecting cells, and when just one of these connections fail, the entire cell fails
SunPower has been manufacturing industry leading solar technology for over thirty years, and has stood the test of time while other solar manufacturers go out of business. No other solar company combines SunPower’s cutting-edge sustainability with a commitment to reducing impact on the environment and communities. SunPower takes a holistic approach to systems, storage, and software, and invests in communities through solar education programs and by providing affordable energy to those in need. SunPower leads the way with their solar technology. Their panels are the only in the industry backed by 25 year warranty.
Industry’s Best Combined Power and Product Warranty
When you’re thinking about going solar, ensuring you get a good warranty is very important. Your home is your biggest investment, and you need to make sure that the solar panels you install will last as long as your home. That’s why SunPower’s 25 year power and product warranty is so valuable. SunPower guarantees 100% of the cost of replacement, including labor, for a full 25 years. This warranty covers any manufacturing or performance defect. SunPower’s industry leading warranty covers the removal of bad panels, shipping, and new panel installation. SunPower panels are engineered to last. So it’s pretty easy to put a rock solid warranty on a product that’s been engineered not to break. Traditional solar warranties are only guaranteed for 10 years and don’t cover removal of bad panels, shipping, or new panel installation. SunPower stands above the competition by offering the most cutting-edge technology with the best warranty in the business.
History of Sun Power:
SunPower’s record of solar innovation began nearly four decades ago, when their co-founder, Dr. Richard Swanson, was brainstorming ways to deal with the oil crisis. He was intrigued by the solar technology being used on satellites, so Dr. Swanson started figuring how to make the cells more cost-effective. Almost 40 years later, Swanson has positioned SunPower as a leader in residential, commercial and utility-scale solar power production. By 1985, Dr. Swanson was a professor of electrical engineering at Stanford and had been awarded grants from the Electric Power Research Institute and the U.S. Department of Energy to support his enterprise. With the help of these funds—as well as financial support from two venture capital firms—SunPower was officially incorporated in April 1985. In the 1990s, SunPower technology developed further and was used to power some of the most innovative solar-powered vehicles. Through constant innovation and new partnerships, SunPower has become a global leader in the solar industry. Maxeon solar cell technology powered the Solar Impulse, a prototype solar airplane that broke records by flying for 26 consecutive hours on solar energy alone. In 2014, SunPower achieved a production milestone, manufacturing its one-billionth solar cell. SunPower is the first and only solar company to be awarded Cradle to Cradle Certification for sustainable manufacturing processes. SunPower acquired SolarBridge Technologies, Inc., for high performance microinverter technology that offers system design flexibility and lower cost of installation. The company also invested in integrated technology solutions to help customers manage their cost of energy.
SunPower is a manufacturer of solar panels, but they partner with only the best solar installers to ensure that when you get a SunPower solar panel system installed on your roof, you are getting the best service across the board. Installers are placed into a tiered category by SunPower that have increasingly difficult requirements. SunPower classifies their dealers as either Authorized, Premier, or Elite. The SunPower Elite Dealer is the highest and most difficult tier to reach. To become an Elite Dealer, SunPower Dealers must meet ten elite entry requirements. Semper Solaris is a SunPower Elite Dealer and they only install SunPower panels. Co-owners John and Kelly say, “You know one of the things that’s interesting about SunPower as a company - for the most part every other panel on the market, literally anybody can buy it and install it. SunPower is one of the only brands that controls the distribution channel through local dealers 100% of the time. And the reason they do that is that want a reasonable assurance of quality.”
